a field recording of the arbor vitae, lake forest illinois, september 11th, 2009
in the garden of the ragdale farm, a number of small decorative arbor vitae have now grown until they loom over the surroundings and require cable to remain upright. i installed a microphone on three of these cables and recorded the results.
external noises like bird song and humans were still audible in the wire, but many sounds are clearly coming through, and i could not identify the source even when visually searching it out.
in this track a neighbor began using a circular saw. also, some wind.
