a field recording of the skokie river, lake forest illinois, september 7th, 2009
in the shaw woods, a long tree-arched lane meets the river with a concrete bridge, narrowing the channel and causing some turbulence. I spanned the channel with a high-tension wire, and using fishing line, dangled 5 objects into the current. The five objects were: a cookie cutter (kitten), a u-bolt span plate, 3 tiny brass washers, a rock, and a small twig. The wire was then mic'd and the recordings with some small variation are presented here. The cookie cutter provided the most dynamic response, sometimes twisting in the flow, only to be shoved down to clang against the rocks.
this last is the walk home.
